Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - WELCA

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Upcoming Events

WELCA meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 12 noon from September to June.

End of Year Luncheon - Monday, June 17th at 12 noon.  Yvette's Cafe, 97th Street at back of mall.  All Women of the Church are welcome.  Rsvp to Church Office. 

We are knitting prayer shawls and afghans for Warm Up America. Instructions and yarn are in the church narthex. Please help yourself.

We are collecting food for our church family. If you would like to donate, please leave your donations in the shopping basket in the church narthex or kitchen.

We are collecting dollar bills with the letter E, L, C, or A for our church family project.







 


All Lutheran women are members of WELCA. You are invited to join us at our monthly meetings in the parish hall. We begin with lunch, cover business, discuss current issues, and conclude with a project work session.

Ongoing projects of WELCA:
  • Knitting baby caps for Cape Regional Medical Center.
  • Knitting prayer shawls for homebound church and community members.
  • Knitting squares for afghans for Warm Up America. Yarn and instructions are available.
  • We collect toiletries for CARA. Donations of shampoo, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, etc. may be left in the parish hall.
Yearly and special projects include:
  • School Kits and Health Kits prepared and sent to Lutheran World Relief.
  • Lunch prepared and served to the homeless in Wildwood through United Way.
  • Thanksgiving and Christmas Food boxes prepared and given to families in Cape May County through County social agencies.
  • Christmas gifts collected and given to the families along with the food boxes.
  • Annual spring card party and luncheon fundraiser for Our Saviour Church budget.
  • Easter Basket Drive - Our Saviour participated with Lutheran
    Social Ministries to make Easter special for children in their program in New Jersey. 16 Easter buckets were filled to the brim by the WELCA ladies with candy, books, puzzles and
    Easter messages.
We enjoy fellowship at our meetings and through our projects. Special luncheons at Christmas and at year end in June are
especially enjoyed.

We continue to pray that what we do combined with the efforts of others, might make a difference in the lives that we touch.
